Drunk Driver Kills 27-year-old in Walnut Creek, CA

During the early morning hours on Saturday, July 30, 2021, a drunk driver struck and killed a 27-year-old woman and severely injured her friend in Walnut Creek, California. Mariacarmen Leon and her friend were walking on the sidewalk on North Main Street when Briana Day, a 28-year-old Concord woman driving a black pickup truck, crashed into them.


The fatal collision happened as the local bars and hangouts were closing.


Leon died at the scene, and her friend was taken to a local hospital. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
