The Las Vegas Raiders released their 2020 First Round Draft Pick, Wide Receiver Henry Ruggs III, after he was involved in a motor vehicle collision. On November 2, 2021, Ruggs allegedly drove while intoxicated on city streets at speeds in excess of 150 mph. The fatal collision left a 23-year-old woman and her dog dead, and Ruggs' passenger hospitalized. The former wide receiver now faces two felony charges and, if convicted, prison time.

Ruggs sustained two traumatic brain injuries (concussions) within the past two years. Traumatic brain injuries are linked to hazardous alcohol use. Ruggs' blood alcohol levels were allegedly over twice the legal limit at the time of the motor vehicle collision.

Sadly, this is another reminder – to never drink and drive. Our thoughts go out to the families and loved ones of the young woman who died in this tragedy.
